Here is a list of vaccines recommended for different age groups along with a brief description of each.

0 - 12 Months

Infants

  • Hepatitis B: Protects against a viral infection that can damage the liver.
  • Rotavirus: Prevents severe diarrhea and vomiting caused by a common virus in young children.
  • Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP): Prevents three serious bacterial infections that can cause severe illness and even death.
  • Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib): Protects against a bacteria that can cause meningitis, pneumonia, and other serious infections.
  • Pneumococcal: Protects against a bacteria that can cause ear infections, pneumonia, meningitis, and other serious infections.
  • Polio: Prevents a viral infection that can cause paralysis and even death.
  • Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR): Protects against three viral infections that can cause serious illness, including deafness, blindness, brain damage, and death.
  • Varicella (chickenpox): Prevents a viral infection that can cause fever, blisters, and severe itching.
1 to 18 years

Children and Adolescents

  • Hepatitis A: Protects against a viral infection that can damage the liver.
  • Meningococcal: Protects against a bacteria that can cause meningitis and other serious infections.
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV): Protects against a virus that can cause cervical cancer, anal cancer, and other types of cancer.
  • Influenza: Prevents the flu, a viral infection that can cause fever, cough, and other symptoms.
  • Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR): Protects against three viral infections that can cause serious illness, including deafness, blindness, brain damage, and death.
  • Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP): Prevents three serious bacterial infections that can cause severe illness and even death.
  • Polio: Prevents a viral infection that can cause paralysis and even death.

19 - 64 Years

Adults

  • Influenza
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap): Boosts immunity to these bacterial infections that can cause severe illness and even death.
  • MMR (if not previously vaccinated or immune)
  • Varicella (if not previously vaccinated or immune)
  • Hepatitis A and B (depending on risk factors)
65 years +

Older Adults

  • Influenza
  • Pneumococcal: Protects against a bacteria that can cause pneumonia and other serious infections.
  • Shingles: Prevents a viral infection that can cause painful rashes and nerve damage.
